Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss Returning for the Fourth Matrix Movie

News came out last June that the Wachowskis were planning on rebooting The Matrix with Michael B. Jordan set to star. It looks like it's going to be featured in the same timeline as the original films since two key stars are coming back to reprise their roles.

According to Variety, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be reprising their roles of Neo and Trinity in the fourth Matrix film. Lana Wachowski is set to write and direct with co-writers Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell also onboard.

WB will produce and distribute the film, Wachowski had this to say about coming back to the world of The Matrix: "Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."

Though Neo and Trinity are about to return, there hasn't been word on Laurence Fishburne's Morpheus. With the whole story kind of muddled up toward the end, I'm guessing Jordan's character could end up being a young Morpheus, and this film will set him on his path in the first movie. Then again, I'm all up for a whole new story centered on a completely fresh character. I mean, the world is just so dark and unique, you can basically go crazy with any story you tell.

No release date has been set for the next Matrix film, but it's said that production is aiming to start sometime at the top of 2020.
