Joss Whedon Allegedly Ordered an Actor’s Complexion be ‘Changed’ During Justice League Reshoots

Zack Snyder may be working on reshoots for Justice League right now, but Cyborg actor Ray Fisher is still out for real-world justice when it came to the treatment of the cast and crew during reshoots with Joss Whedon.

In a new interview with Forbes, Fisher opens up about allegations of racism on Whedon's set, and says that the final straw for him was when Whedon had asked for a POC actor's skin to be changed during post-production. He says:

"What set my soul on fire and forced me to speak out about Joss Whedon this summer was my becoming informed that Joss had ordered that the complexion of an actor of color be changed in post-production because he didn't like the color of their skin tone… Man, with everything 2020's been, that was the tipping point for me."

Fisher also claims that multiple POC characters were written of the theatrical film, with Cyborg's parents given reduced roles (Cyborg's mom being completely cut); other characters like Ryan Choi (Zheng Kai) and Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) had also been removed.

If anything, Stone wants to make sure that his vendetta is not against WB, but specific people who are in a position of power using WB for their own selfish gains. He says, "I'm not in a fight with Warner Bros… I'm in a fight with a handful of people that are attempting to use Warner Bros. to cover their tracks. All the significant film and TV work I've done has been under the WarnerMedia banner. I love what I do and who I've been blessed to do it with."

We don't know how all of this will go down, but the internet is definitely on Fisher's side. Hopefully more of his cast mates will open up about their experience, and WB can address the issue properly so this abuse can't happen again in the future.

Catch Fisher in Zack Snyder's Justice League when it comes out on HBO Max sometime in 2021.
