Star Wars Episode IX was originally supposed to come out in May 2019, but with all the delays, we now have to wait more than a year for the release. Good thing is, Jon Favreau's Star Wars series could come out earlier than that, so we'll have some Star Wars material to check out while we wait for the movie.
According to Omega Underground, Lucasfilm is planning on the start of production for the series to take place this coming fall. At worst, the show could start shooting in winter. Favreau is currently attached to write and produce the show, but he is expected to hire other people to direct episodes.
Another thing we know about the series is that it takes place a few years after the Return of the Jedi, so there's a lot of unexplored territory for stories. If we're lucky, we might even get to see the Battle of Jakku take place onscreen.
Then again, I'm totally fine if Favreau subverts expectations and gives us something that no one will be able to see coming.
No release date has been announced for Favreau's Star Wars series, but it's a good guess that it could come out sometime in 2019. It's also said that this series will debut alongside Disney's upcoming streaming service.
