Joker Production Under Investigation for 'Mistreating Extras'

With all the set photos and videos that we've been seeing online, it looks like the production for Todd Phillips' Joker movie was going smoothly. However, it looks like the movie has finally gone through its first snag as reports are coming out that there was a mistreatment of the extras on set.

According to TMZ, the set of the Joker is currently under investigation by the Screen Actors Guild after they received a complaint that the extras were forced to stay in the trains for more than three hours without being allowed a break. Some people were said to have started banging on the doors, wanting to use the comfort room, but were denied; some were forced to relieve themselves on the tracks of the set.

It's worth noting that the SAG has a rule that requires extras to have a break after two hours of work, so having them locked in a train for three hours is a clear violation. As of now, it looks like the movie is going to be monitored by the SAG to make sure that there won't be any more further violations.

Honestly, I hope Joker doesn't get sidetracked since it looks so interesting. I just hope that the SAG makes sure that no more violations to the rules will take place on the set again. It must have been a nightmare to be locked in a train with a bunch of other extras for that long.

Catch Joker in theaters Oct. 4, 2019.
