John Boyega Calls Out Star Wars Fans Criticizing His Activism

While a lot of celebrities like to play nice when it comes to fans online, Star Wars' John Boyega has always been very vocal about his activism despite criticism from some fans. With the police protests currently ongoing in the US right now, Boyega has decided to call out the Star Wars fans who are finding his recent posts about #BlackLivesMatter problematic.

Here's his (now deleted) post:

We don't really know what Star Wars he's referring to in the post, but seeing that the fanbase has recently been called out for its toxic members, I have no problem standing by Boyega's statement. While there are some more positive members of the fandom, you can't ignore that there are those sexist and racist fans—the same ones who bullied Kelly Marie Tran off of social media and hate on every female character endlessly.

It's quite ironic that these fans would hate on Boyega for trying to do some real-world activism when they praise him for playing a rebellious stormtrooper in Star Wars. @TorraineWalker probably put it best:

While there are still some fans who are missing the point of Boyega's protests online, I personally admire that he's using his platform to spread a positive and important message. It's a hundred times better than gathering a bunch of other celebs and doing a cover of Imagine.

We don't know how these protests will end up, but you can follow Boyega's twitter for more updates on his activist activities.
