Jake Busey and Cary Elwes Cast in Stranger Things 3

Netflix's Stranger Things 3 is currently underway, and two new cast members have just been announced to join the strange town of Hawkins. Speaking during the See What's Next event (via Deadline), Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has confirmed that Cary Elwes (Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights) and Jake Busey (The Frighteners) have been cast in the next season of Stranger Things.

Apparently, Elwes will be playing the mayor of Hawkins, Mayor Kline. This lines up perfectly with the reports earlier that there will be a politician character introduced in Season 3. As for Busey, he'll be playing a character named Bruce. We don't know much about this Bruce character, but I have a feeling he's some kind of CIA spook.

Though they may be less in the spotlight today, Elwes and Busey still manage to cement themselves in pop-culture via the cult films that they have starred in. Elwes was the hero in The Princess Bride as well as Robin Hood in Mel Brooks' delightful parody of the classic story, and Busey was the main villain in Peter Jackson's The Frighteners.

It's actually great that Stranger Things is able to cast actors of cult status, especially since the show is all about nostalgia. Last season we were able to have Sean Astin (Goonies, Lord of the Rings) as the fantastic Bob Newby; I hope they do something great with Elwes and Busey.

No release date has been announced for Stranger Things 3.
