J.J. Abrams: The Rise of Skywalker Will Definitely Answer the Big Fan Questions

While The Last Jedi definitely pushed the Sequel Trilogy's story forward, there are still a lot of questions like who is Snoke, who are the Knights of Ren, and how did Maz Kanata end up with Luke's lightsaber. With the final movie set to come out later this month, director J.J. Abrams confirms that fans will definitely get their answers by the end.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Abrams explained, "We went into this movie very much in the mindset that this has to be conclusive… It has to. You have to get some answers. You have to learn some things."

With the movie set to conclude the story of the past eight films that came before it, Abrams also talks a bit about how he plans to end the arcs of all the characters. He continues, "Endings are very difficult because they need to take everything that's come before, in this case eight films prior, and draw it to a close… So I wanted to make sure in addition to the central story, the main character or characters, I wanted to make sure that you felt that when you were done with this film, you felt like you had some more insight into all of them. That was really important to us."

Though we're almost sure that we're going to get an ending for Rey and Kylo Ren, Abrams has also made sure that we get insight on other side characters like Finn and Poe. We may even get some revelations about older characters like C-3PO or maybe even Lando Calrissian.

It's no doubt there's a lot of pressure for The Rise of Skywalker to deliver, and I'm hopeful that Abrams and his team have managed to come up with a story that will give us a fitting end. I'm just crossing my fingers he follows his gut as a storyteller like Rian Johnson did and not just give fans fanservice that they supposedly want.
