Is Marvel Planning on Making Deadpool the Next Stan Lee?

While everyone basically agrees that Marvel needs to revamp the entire X-Men franchise for the MCU, one character that needs to be brought back in from the Fox universe is Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. What's interesting is, word has it that Marvel head Kevin Feige is thinking the same thing.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via DR Movie News), Feige and Marvel are interested in signing Reynolds on for the MCU, and what's more, they want him to have the most appearances of any other character in MCU history.

For now, we don't know how legitimate this news is, but if it were true, Marvel could be planning on making Deadpool the next Stan Lee. With the Infinity Saga having an appearance from Lee in every film, it would make sense if Marvel wanted to have another character be that humorous connection between films.

I think it's very plausible. For one, Reynolds is very dedicated to playing the part of Deadpool, and his meta sense of humor is very different from the quips that Marvel films are known for—kind of like the meta nature of Stan Lee's cameos. With Deadpool wearing a mask, it would be very easy to just have double wear the costume, and Reynolds would provide the voice; easy-peasy.

With nothing official being confirmed, all fans can really do now is wait. We don't know what Marvel plans to do with the Deadpool franchise, but they better have something in mind because it was one of the more profitable titles before the Disney/Fox merger.

MCU Phase 4 kicks off with WandaVision on Disney+ sometime this year.
