How to Train Your Dragon 3: Dreamworks Congratulates Game of Thrones with New Image of Toothless

It's been seven years, and Game of Thrones is officially ending come 2019. With the show's influence on fantasy in the current pop culture climate, Dreamworks has decided to congratulate the show by giving us a new image of Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

I'll admit, it's kind of vague what Dreamworks is congratulating Game of Thrones for. On one hand, the show just won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, on the other, they're finally ending eight years of a stellar run on HBO.

I'm going to go on a limb and say it's congratulations for both.

Interestingly enough, both franchises actually have one actor in common—Kit Harington. Harington plays Jon Snow in GoT, but in the second HTTYD film, he was the dragon-trapper Eret son of Eret. There's even a fun nod to Snow when Astrid tells Eret that he ‘knows nothing' about dragons. In GoT, Snow has been the butt of Ygritte's catchphrase, "You know nothing, Jon Snow."

Based off some cryptic voiceover in the trailer for The Hidden World, it looks like something is going to happen to the dragons that will make them disappear for a while. Why else would Hiccup say the line, "There were dragons when I was a boy. Where they went, only a few know. Our story will change the world forever."

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they've known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destinies are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they've grown to treasure.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World hits theaters March 1, 2019.
