Has Star Trek Actress Michelle Yeoh Started Work on Shang-Chi?

While most of the world is on lockdown, productions are starting to slowly get back up again with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shooting in Australia. Rumor had come out that Michelle Yeoh would be appearing in the film, and a recent UG post from the Star Trek alum has fans thinking she could very well be shooting already.

In this recent post, Yeoh has confirmed that she is already in Australia and getting tested for COVID-19. Check it out:

While this isn't confirmation on her working on Shang-Chi yet, a lot of the news lines up, what with the film shooting in Australia and rumors that Yeoh is part of the cast.

We don't know what part Yeoh is going to play in the film, but a lot are hoping that she reprises the role of Aleta Ogord from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. We know that Gemma Chan is going to play someone entirely new in Eternals despite being cast as Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel, but I'd rather the MCU stick to its continuity. It would just feel stereotypical if they cast Yeoh to play another wise/mystic Asian woman. Find some other actresses, Marvel!

This is all just speculation for now, but hopefully, we get an official update soon. With Marvel bowing out of SDCC 2020, I'm crossing my fingers that they have one big reveal event before Black Widow comes out in November.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to come out on May 7, 2021.
