Hans Zimmer and Harold Faltermeyer to Score Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun: Maverick was gearing up to be an amazing sequel, what with involvement from members of the original cast, and a lot of people are excited to see the return of Maverick and Iceman. Just in, the film has landed a great composer in the form of Hans Zimmer.

According to Hans-Zimmer.com, Zimmer will be collaborating with original Top Gun composer Harold Faltermeyer to work on the score. Besides this film, Zimmer has scored several other Tom Cruise films like The Last Samurai, Mission Impossible II, and Rain Man. No word yet on whether Kenny Loggins will want to give us an update on Danger Zone.

Maverick was originally set for a 2019 release date, but it was pushed back to 2020 in order for the production to work on, ‘the logistics of presenting flight sequences with new technology and planes.' I'm sure that a lot of people are bummed about the delay, especially since it was said that the film had started production way back in May.

In Top Gun: Maverick, Pete Mitchell (Cruise) is now the flight supervisor of a new batch of pilots which include the likes of Miles Teller (Goose's son) and Monica Barbaro (the first female pilot). Val Kilmer is also expected to make his return as Iceman.

Besides them, the film also has the likes of Ed Harris (Westworld) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men) on the cast list.

Catch Top Gun: Maverick in theaters June 26, 2020.
