HD Look at Wedge Antilles in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

If Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was full of something, it was definitely fanservice, and out of all the callbacks we got, Lucasfilm was actually able to get Denis Lawson to reprise the role of Rebel pilot Wedge Antilles. We don't have a clip of Wedge's cameo in the movie, but we do have an HD shot of him.

Check it out:

With Wedge being a renowned X-Wing pilot, I thought it was kind of a bummer that he didn't show up in an X-Wing himself. While he is wearing the new garb for pilots, they didn't even give him his signature helmet; I guess it was done to make him more recognizable, but then again, we only ever get to see Wedge wearing his helmet more times than without.

While I have a lot of things to gripe about The Rise of Skywalker, I'm actually happy to see Wedge Antilles come back. He's one of the big heroes during the Galactic Civil War, and outside of the films, he's a fan favorite. I was just kind of hoping he got a more relevant role. Heck, Admiral Raddus had more to do in Rogue One compared to Wedge in TROS.

While it looks like the Skywalker Saga is over, for now, I'm kind of hoping that Lucasfilm gives us a film series following Rey, Finn, and Poe's story now that Palpatine is gone. Maybe it could be an epilogue Disney+ series, but I'm open to another trilogy—with the right story this time.

Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker now in theaters.
