HBO's Watchmen: Check Out This Statue of Ozymandias in Full Costume

Though we know that Jeremy Irons is playing an aged Adrian Veidt in HBO's Watchmen, we don't really get to see him in his superhero gear from the comics. What's interesting is, there's actually a statue of Veidt in costume, and it looks incredibly comic-accurate.

This comes from Geek Vibes Nation:

Aside from a few details, the statue keeps to the robed look from the original Watchmen comic. I guess they had to make the gauntlets and boots a tad more detailed for television. At some point, I was actually hoping we'd get some influence from the Ozymandias from the Watchmen film, but seeing as this is supposed to be a sequel to the comic, it's best that they stick closer to that source material.

We don't know when this statue is supposed to be made in the timeline, but Veidt looks significantly older here. I guess it means that he was still going around in costume for a few years after his genocide, but maybe they just wanted it to look a lot like Jeremy Irons.

Veidt's role is still a mystery in the series, but it's likely he's still trying to cover up the "alien" ruse that he fooled the world with back in the 80s. Some newspaper headlines from the show have been saying that Veidt has died, and rumor has it that he's actually gone into hiding under a different alias.

Until the show comes out officially, all we can really do is guess.

Catch HBO's Watchmen when it premieres Oct. 20.
