Gruesome Star Wars Fanart Makes Anakin's Vader Transformation More Horrifying

The transformation of Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is already pretty brutal itself, but artist Daniel Warren Johnson just dropped this commission that makes the scene a lot more horrifying.

Check it out:

While we only get a wide shot of Anakin's maimed and burned corpse in the film, this fanart really goes into detail with all the burnt muscle and tissue; plus no amount of Hayden Christensen acting is going to give us that horrified expression on Anakin's face as he's being plugged and fused with droid parts.

Just to compare, here's the original scene from the film:

I have to say, this is some solid work on Johnson's part. If you want to see some more of his artwork, you can check out the comics Murder Falcon and Extremity from Image Comics. He also has a DC title with Wonder Woman: Dead Earth.

As for Star Wars, the films are set to take a hiatus after The Rise of Skywalker, with the next box office release slated for 2022. Though that may be a long wait, Lucasfilm still looks to deliver on the Disney+ side with shows like The Mandalorian and other spinoffs centered on Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

For now, the second season of The Mandalorian is set to hit Disney+ later this October. Hopefully the Coronavirus hasn't caused some more significant delays to post-production.
