Game of Thrones and The Boys Director In Talks to Helm Disney+ Marvel Miniseries

Marvel may have announced multiple miniseries for Disney+ back at SDCC 2019, but so far we have not one mention of a director or showrunner. What's interesting is, Marvel may have found someone to helm, but it's just a question of which series.

According to Discussing Film, Matt Shakman is currently in talks to direct a 6-episode Marvel miniseries for Disney+. We don't have any idea what the series is, but the site suggests that it could either be for WandaVision or Loki.

Looking at his resume, Shakman has actually had a pretty good run as a director. He's worked on Game of Thrones and a lot of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Most recently, he also directed the episode Cherry for Amazon's highly acclaimed superhero series The Boys.

As far as production schedules go, Loki is set to start shooting sometime in January with WandaVision set to start in a few weeks. If Shakman is still in talks, I would imagine the studio would give him some ample time to prepare, so maybe he could be working on Loki. Then again, we haven't had any news on who will direct for WandaVision (or The Falcon and The Winter Soldier either).

My guess is Marvel is waiting to drop this info at the D23 Expo which takes place by the end of the week. It's kind of suspicious that no directors have been announced for these shows, so it would make sense that Marvel would make an announcement before anything else starts.

The first Disney+ Marvel series coming out is The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and it's set for a spring 2020 release.
