Game of Thrones Prequel: House Stark, White Walkers, and More to Return

Game of Thrones may have already ended, but that doesn't mean that HBO is done with the franchise. A prequel series is currently in the works, and franchise creator George R.R. Martin shares we will see a return of everyone's favorite house.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Martin confirmed, "The Starks will definitely be there." We don't know just what generation of Starks will appear, but some hope that Bran the Builder will make an appearance. In the lore, he was the one who helped put up the wall with the help of giants and magic.

What's more, Martin also teased the inclusion of several other creatures from the North. Martin continues, "Obviously the White Walkers are here — or as they're called in my books, The Others — and that will be an aspect of it… There are things like direwolves and mammoths."

Seeing as the main series kind of botched the story with the White Walkers, I'm interested to see how they could make this threat appear more relevant in the show, now that fans know what all of it is supposed to build up to. I guess it kind of help if you just forget the last two seasons of Game of Thrones.

While this prequel is kind of an obvious cash grab for HBO, I'm still hoping that they find a great story underneath it all. Besides the show, there's a lot of great lore behind the scenes, and it would be great to see it all unfold onscreen.

No release date has been set for the Game of Thrones prequel series, but hopefully, we get an announcement come SDCC 2019.
