Game of Thrones: Kit Harington Thinks Jon Snow Got a ‘Sweet Ending’

While Game of Thrones seemed like it was building up to Jon Snow being the true heir to the Iron Throne, it pulled the rug from under the fans and had Jon go beyond the Wall at the finale. Though a lot of people didn't like this ending, Kit Harington thought it was absolutely right for the character.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Harington said: "[S]eeing [Jon] go beyond the Wall back to something true, something honest, something pure with these people he was always told he belongs with — the Free Folk — it felt to me like he was finally free."

"Instead of being chained and sent to the Wall, it felt like he was set free. It was a really sweet ending. As much as he had done a horrible thing [in killing Daenerys], as much as he had felt that pain, the actual ending for him was finally being released," Harington continued.

Even if the entire show was pointing to Snow bringing in the true king, you have to admit that he was never one to look eager for the job. The entire final season, we just have him denying the throne, and at the end of it all, he doesn't get it—just like he wants.

I guess it's an ideal ending for Jon Snow as a character, but like with everyone else, fans just thought that the plotline seemed to rushed. For now, the fans' only hope for a "proper" ending is George R.R. Martin's next book, and even that doesn't have a solid release date yet.

Though Kit Harington looks to be done with Game of Thrones, HBO is far from dropping Westeros. A prequel series is currently in the works, but no specific release date has been released. Hopefully, we get a significant update before the year ends.
