Game of Thrones: Gwendoline Christie Predicted the Bran Twist 2 Years Ago

The Game of Thrones finale was full of surprises, and one of them was the twist that Bran eventually ended up as the ruler of Westeros. While some people thought this was a bit undeserved, actress Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) had accurately guessed who would end up on the Iron Throne two years ago.

This is an interview she had with co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau with Extra TV a few years back:

Admittedly, Christie had made her guess simply by relying on the show's unpredictability. With so much riding on Daenerys or Jon on the throne, Bran seemed to be someone that was least expected to rule—which was exactly what happened.

For now, everyone is kind of peeved at how the entire show ended, what with Daenerys being killed and Jon's Targaryen lineage apparently not resulting to anything. If anything, the show could have worked with Jon killing Dany, but the short episode count didn't feel like it was a move that was earned. How is it that we follow Dany's journey for several years and the show expects us to root against her in just a few episodes?

If anything, the ink has dried for the show, and no amount of fan petitions are ever going to change that. Hopefully, this gives George R.R. Martin some well-needed notes on how to end his books, and even if they do have the same conclusion, everyone is hoping that Martin will build up to it in a way that would make sense.
