Game of Thrones 8: Scripts Confirm that Cersei’s Pregnancy is Not a Lie

The last season of Game of Thrones came with the revelation that Cersei Lannister was once again pregnant with Jaime's child, but some fans have been led to believe that this was just some elaborate lie to get Jaime and Tyrion on her side once again. Thanks to the public viewing of the scripts of those episodes at the Writers Guild of America West's library (via Vanity Fair), we get confirmation that Cersei is indeed with child.

This was the scene description when Cersei told Jaime that she was pregnant:

"She nods, it's true... Her happiness is contagious. They get another chance at family. This time with no one standing in their way."

And this is the description when the reveal was made to Tyrion:

"Tyrion sees what he sees and knows what it means. He can hardly believe it, but knows it to be true... She stays silent for too long, long enough to tell him that he's right. And once she knows he knows, she can think of nothing else to say."

The way the story has gone, very little sympathy can be made for Cersei, seeing that she has become more despicable as the series has played along. So far, the only empathy we can have for her is her protectiveness of her children, but with her on the throne, and basically threatening everyone close to her, she has become the primary antagonist of the show—aside from the mysterious Night King that is.

Maybe Cersei's pregnancy is what will lead to the audience gaining sympathy for her once again. After all, during the beginning of the show, there was a lot to feel sorry about her—seeing that Rob Baratheon never really liked her and Tywin Lannister was about to marry her off to another stranger.

While I'm almost sure that Cersei will die, I'm hopeful that the show gives us an unexpected fate for her.

What are the odds that she'll team up with the Night King and become some kind of Ice Queen?

Game of Thrones 8 is set to come out April 2019.
