Though he hasn’t played any onscreen roles, Frozen star Josh Gad has actually helped promote the release of Star Wars and seems to be good friends with star Daisy Ridley. What’s interesting is that he actually got a set visit for The Rise of Skywalker, but his experience for the movie was ultimately ruined.

During an appearance on Conan, Gad talks about convincing Daisy to have him visit the set, and the very first thing he got to see was the reveal that Rey was Palpatine’s granddaughter. Watch him tell the story here:

What’s interesting is that Gad describes himself as ‘pissed’ for being able to watch the scene. While I’m almost certain that Gad meant that he hated that he got spoiled during his set visit, I’m almost hoping that he agrees with a lot of the fans that the reveal that Rey is a Palpatine is dumb; not only does it retcon The Last Jedi, but it also kind of makes it look like Rey is only special because she’s part of another noble bloodline.

Granted how big a fan Gad is of Star Wars, it’s only a matter of time before he gets cast in a future film. We don’t know who he could play now, but I can see him as some kind of alien gangster or someone from the Star Wars underworld.

While the Skywalker Saga may have ended, Lucasfilm is set to come back with a Star Wars movie sometime in 2022. Besides that, we’re also getting yearly Star Wars shows on Disney+ with the second season of The Mandalorian coming this fall.

Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker now in theaters.
