Ewan McGregor Says He’s Going to Enjoy Working on Obi-Wan Series More Than the Prequels

Though production may have been delayed, we are positive that Ewan McGregor is coming back for an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+. Seeing that McGregor has had a long history with Star Wars, he comments that he will be having a lot more fun shooting this show than the prequel trilogy.

Talking to ACE Universe, McGregor reveals that the Kenobi show is going to be using the same giant screens that they used when shooting The Mandalorian. When comparing the method to the old-school way of shooting in green screen like the Prequels did, McGregor says, "I'm just going to enjoy it all much more."

Sadly, McGregor couldn't share much about the series for now, but I do have to say, he's looking pretty close to the hermit Obi-Wan that people are expecting to see in the film. We don't know what his final look is going to be, but it would be very fascinating to see what kind of life Obi-Wan is going to lead as he looks after Luke and copes with the loss of the Jedi Order.

For now, the series is expected to start production in the next year and Disney is said to be prioritizing the Cassian Andor series. While a lot of people are excited for Obi-Wan's return, I'm personally more invested in seeing the grunts of the Rebellion—the non-Force users who fly the ships and shoot blasters.

No release date has been set for the Kenobi series, but the second season of The Mandalorian is expected to hit Disney+ this October.
