Edward Furlong Talks His Return as John Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate

Besides Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator: Dark Fate is also bringing back Edward Furlong to reprise the role of John Connor from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. During an appearance at Silicon Valley Comic-Con, Furlong talks a bit about coming back and reveals that his role isn't as large as that of Hamilton's or Schwarzenegger's.

Talking to TheArnoldFans, Furlong said, "I'm not allowed to say ANYTHING um, but yeah, yeah man, I mean it's a small role but it's, you know, I'm in there, man! I'm in there."

Furlong also continued:

"It was like a blessing man… I was very excited you know, like really uh, yeah I was trying to turn my life around at that point – so I mean it was uh, it was kinda a good call to get, you know? It kinda felt like a gift from all that you know, plus I was supposed to do the other Terminator but I done fucked that shit up, So I gotta tell you, I was proud. (for Dark Fate)"

Though the role of John Connor has been played by multiple actors in the past (from Christian Bale to Jason Clarke), Furlong remains to be a fan favorite version. After all, it's his Connor we get to know in Judgment Day, which is arguably the best film in the whole franchise. All the other John Connors that followed never really got a chance to shine because their movies came out lackluster.

For now, it looks like Terminator is going the sequel/reboot direction with a fresh new cast and appearances from old favorites. Let's hope Tim Miller and James Cameron manage to make this story stick this time around.

Catch Terminator: Dark Fate when it hits theaters Nov. 1.
