Dora the Explorer Movie Casts Benicio del Toro as Swiper the Fox

Benicio del Toro had played a thief in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it looks like he'll be playing another one in the live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Del Toro has been cast as the voice of Swiper the Fox. We know that the monkey Boots will also be appearing in the film, but so far, Del Toro is the only confirmed animal character in the cast.

Isabela Moner will be playing the titular Dora with Jeffrey Wahlberg playing her cousin Diego. Michael Pena and Eva Longoria will also be playing the role of Dora's parents, with Eugenio Derbez said to be playing the villain. Other stars include Temuera Morrison, Q'orianka Kilvher,a and Alejandro Gutierrez.

We don't have an official synopsis released for the movie yet, but the story is said to revolve around a teenage Dora, who, after years of adventuring as a child, must go on another quest after her parents have gone missing. Along for the ride will be her cousin Diego and some of her teenage friends.

Quite honestly, I don't know what to expect from the movie, seeing that the original show was too childish by family film standards. With director James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) at the helm though, I'm sure that the movie will find a good balance that is fun for kids while at the same time enjoyable for adults.

Catch Dora the Explorer in theaters Aug. 2, 2019.
