Donald Glover's Cameo in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Confirmed

Back before Sony rebooted Raimi's Spider-Man franchise, Donald Glover was a fan favorite choice to be the new Spider-Man. He never landed the role of Peter Parker, but he did end up as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming. What's cool is, he has a cameo in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as well.

According to ScreenRant, the scene is actually in the background. When we see Miles visit his uncle Aaron (the same character played by Glover), the television in the background is playing a clip of Glover from Community wearing Spidey pajamas.

Here's the scene from the show:

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller also talked about the cameo with Fandango, and they teased:

Lord: It sure looks like him…

Miller: I don't know if we're legally allowed to say…

Lord: We basically wanted to tip our hat to Community and the groundswell of support for the Spider-Man of color that came out of that, and we just thought it was a neat little nod.

Miller: That episode [of Community] was sort of the origin of where Miles came from. It may or may not actually be in the movie. You have to watch to find out...

Though Glover has admittedly gotten too old to play Spider-Man, I don't really think that means we won't be seeing him in the role soon. He did voice Miles Morales in the Ultimate Spider-Man series, and who knows if anyone is planning some time-travel story with an adult Miles down the line? Older Miles had a pretty memorable stint in the Gwenpool comic; who says he can't make an appearance in a future film?

Catch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters now.
