Doctor Strange 2 Pre-Production Continues Remotely with June Start Planned

Marvel Studios has put all their active productions on hold thanks to the Coronavirus, but it looks like one film is still going as planned, and it still expecting to start when it initially intended.

As per Variety, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is currently in pre-production, and the crew has somehow found a way to deal with the process remotely. With the intention to shoot in June, the studio is probably hopeful that the outbreak would have subsided by then, and everyone can get back to their regular work schedule.

Of course, that June start is an optimistic goal for now. While I don't want to be a downer, we should expect the worst, should it happen; we don't know what things are going to be like in June, but we should be ready should the lockdowns and quarantines continue for longer.

We don't know what's going to happen with Doctor Strange 2 yet, but we do know that Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is going to be at the helm for now. We don't know what led Scott Derrickson to leave the director's seat, but hopefully Raimi manages to give us a film that will feel like a good entry in the MCU. The pressure is on now that Thanos is gone and Phase 4 is starting to see a drop in interest when it comes to the main audience.

Should Doctor Strange 2 get its planned start date, we should expect it to release on May 7, 2021.
