#DisneyAdaptPercyJackson Surpasses 100K Tweets

The 20th Century Fox attempted to make their own Harry Potter franchise with Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, but after two films, the IP was dead in the water. With a rumor coming out that Disney could be adapting Percy Jackson, the fanbase for PJO has suddenly taken to Twitter to demand that Disney reboot the franchise.

Though Disney was able to nab Harry Potter director Christopher Columbus to direct the first Percy Jackson film, the movie still failed in the sense that it didn't really follow the books. For one they made Percy significantly older (he was twelve in the books), and they kind of dropped a lot of elements that made the book kind of fun. For example, the Gods on Olympus never wore armor like in the movie, the book had described them adapting to modern times, and they would often wear civilian clothing.

Admittedly, there was no truth to the rumor that Disney is currently working on adapting Percy Jackson, but the fans are certainly all fired up now. Percy Jackson and the Olympians has every potential to be a massive franchise, and with Disney's means, they could very much make a whole new series of movies or maybe a Disney+ series with each season standing in for a novel.

For now, we don't have any official announcements, but with the number of buzz the franchise is getting, hopefully Disney realizes what kind of goldmine they're sitting on.
