Disney Said to be Discussing a Live-Action Hercules

After Dumbo, Disney is set to have other live-action movies like Aladdin and The Lion King gracing the screens this year. They're slowly working through their list of Renaissance movies, and it looks like the higher-ups are considering making a Hercules film.

This comes from the DisInsider's Skyler Shuler:

Like he said, nothing official has been confirmed, but with the way the live-action films make money, I say it's only a matter of time before we see Hercules "Go the distance" in his own movie. Maybe Disney just wants to distance itself from the 2014 movie first—the one starring Dwayne Johnson.

Personally, Hercules is one of my favorite films from the Renaissance period, but that's mostly nostalgia speaking. I mean, it doesn't have quite the same amount of prestige as Aladdin or The Little Mermaid, but I'm sure a lot of kids in the 90s where this film came out at just the right time. A live-action film would require a lot of spectacle though, since the movie was filled with epic scenes of Hercules fighting monsters and titans. I mean, this film has to be like a musical Clash of the Titans if it's going to work.

For now, we look to the present. Aladdin comes out in the end of the month, and people are excited to see just how Will Smith follows up on Robin Williams' iconic performance. After that we get The Lion King this July. Does anyone even care about Maleficent: Mistress of Evil?

Catch Aladdin in theaters May 24.
