Despite being Replaced, Kate Kane Won’t be Killed Off in Batwoman

Ruby Rose had made headlines when it was reported that she would be leaving Batwoman, and her character Kate Kane is going to be replaced by someone else taking up the mantle. Though some assume that Kate would be killed off, showrunner Caroline Dries confirms that won't be the case.

She posted this on her Twitter:

At this point, we have no idea what the show plans to do with the new Batwoman. While some are expecting that the new actress will be a member of the LGBTQ as well, some think that this could send the wrong message that LGBT characters can be interchangeable. Then again, Batwoman has become such an icon for representation that it wouldn't make sense if someone more conventional replaced her.

If anything the Batwoman show has certainly gotten caught in a pickle ever since they parted ways with their main star. At some point, I think that basing Season 2's story on Kate's disappearance is kind of a hint that they want Ruby Rose to come back in some form. I mean, if they're not killing her off, they must be expecting her to make some kind of appearance. Why else bother surrounding a character with mystery if we don't get closure on what happened to her?

No release date has been set for the second season of Batwoman, but hopefully, we get a solid date once the show finds its new protagonist. In the meantime, catch the show on The CW.
