Daniel Bruhl Talks the Classic Zemo Costume for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Daniel Bruhl had played the villain Helmut Zemo for Captain America: Civil War, and he's set to reprise the character for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. While he didn't have the classic mask in the film, he'll be looking more comic-accurate for the series, and Bruhl talks a bit about donning the costume.

Talking to Collider, Bruhl explained:

"I remember that Kari Skogland, the director, came to Budapest and we recorded something with me being Zemo, and I was very happy and enthusiastic to see the mask. I was incredibly thrilled to go back because I remember that I had a lot of fun being in something completely different and getting to explore the MCU and become part of that. I have the fondest memories of collaborating with all of these wonderful actors, and to see Sebastian Stan again, and Anthony Mackie, this time around, and to come back to something which, on the one hand, felt common and known, and on the other hand, being something completely new and something fresh."

When we last saw Zemo, he was a captive of the CIA, so it's going to be interesting to see how he finds himself free to torment Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. At some point in the comics, Zemo had actually become the new leader of HYDRA. With some soldiers spotted in classic green and yellow HYDRA garb in the short teaser, I wonder if this series is going to have us see Zemo become the new Red Skull.

While Zemo is no doubt one of the most devastating villains to the Avengers, he's probably one of the most forgettable. Personally, the only thing that really stood out in the Civil War was the airport battle, but hopefully, we get some more memorable moments from Zemo come Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Though it will likely be delayed, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is set to come out on Disney+ this August.
