Dan Fogler Says Fantastic Beasts 3 will ‘Feel Like the First Movie’

While Fantastic Beastsand Where to Find Them had launched a new era of the Wizarding World successfully, the film had stumbled badly with the sequel, The Crimes of Grindelwald. The third movie is still underway, and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) has given us an update on the third film.

Talking to SYFY WIRE, Fogler comments:

"I can say I read the script and the character development is really lovely and it's very similar to the feel of the first movie, which I think is great… It's leading toward this massive war with the backdrop of World War II, so you can just imagine epic battle scenes are coming."

The movie was actually supposed to start shooting last week, but with the entire world in the state of calamity, production has been put on hold until further notice.

While I'm not exposed to an expansion of the Wizarding World, I really didn't like how Fantastic Beasts 2 felt when it came out. Besides having a dull plot, I thought that J.K. Rowling was relying too much on ‘legacy' and what came before the franchise. If anything, Newt had become sidelined so that the movie can focus on the clash between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

If you ask me, they should have just made anthology films with Fantastic Beasts being a one-off and the next films based on other in-Potter books like Quidditch Through the Ages or The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

With production on hold, it seems unlikely that Fantastic Beasts 3 will hit its intended release date of Nov. 12, 2021.
