Crisis on Inifnite Earths: Michael Rosenbaum Confirms He Was Asked to Reprise Lex Luthor, but Declined

A lot of people are excited that Tom Welling is reprising Superman for The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, and as it turns out, another Smallville co-star was asked to come back.

Michael Rosenbaum revealed on Twitter that he was asked to reprise the role of Lex Luthor, but he ultimately declined. Here's his post:

While it looks like Rosenbaum isn't coming back, insider Daniel Richtman thinks this is some kind of negotiating tactic on Rosenbaum's part. This is one of the most ambitious crossovers to come to television, admittedly, so it would make sense that he would want to be properly compensated.

Aside from Welling making his return, Brandon Routh is also going to be playing Superman once again since Superman Returns; albeit this version is said to be influenced by the Kingdom Come Superman. Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy is also set appear as a live-action Bruce Wayne, and original Robin actor Burt Ward is also part of the cast.

With all the people assembled, I can only imagine who else The CW plans to bring onboard for the crossover. Can we get anyone from the DCEU? Will Mark Hamill be open to playing a live-action Joker? How about Will Friedle playing a live-action Terry McGinnis?

Crisis on Infinite Earths will start with Supergirl on Dec. 8, and continue with Batwoman (Dec. 9) and The Flash (Dec. 10). The whole event ends on Jan. 14 with Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
