While a lot of people weren’t sure about the film at first, Joker had managed to become a major hit for WB, and they’re probably finding out other experimental films that could fly under the DC banner. What’s interesting is we could’ve gotten a movie featuring one of Batman’s most impressive villains, Bane.

According to Heroic Hollywood, a pitch had been worked on for a solo movie focusing on the “Man who Broke the Bat”, Bane. We don’t have any details on what the movie would have been about, but hopefully we get an update sometime within the year.

Though on the surface fans see Bane as some kind of brute, he’s actually one of more intelligent Batman villains in the comics, already having an impressive physique without the use of the “Venom” serum. Of course, he’s most infamous for actually besting the Batman, and it shows through all his different iterations from film and TV.

While Bane is more layered in the comics, he’s admittedly been reduced to a kind of a buffoon in other mediums. He’s just a dumb muscle-head in Batman and Robin, and though he had a lot more character in The Dark Knight Rises, he was still a pawn of Talia al Ghul. The Harley Quinn series can’t help but make fun of Bane.

Personally, I don’t think a solo movie would be the best idea for this character, but he would definitely work in a future Batman movie. We don’t know what WB has planned, but I have hopes that we could have Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson be Batman at the same time.

Catch The Batman when it hits theaters Oct. 1, 2021.
