Chris Pratt, Tom Holland to Star in Pixar’s ‘Onward’

Pixar came out with The Incredibles II this year, and next year will see another sequel released by the studio in the form of Toy Story 4. Just in Pixar has announced a new original film called Onward, and it will star MCU actors Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man).

Here's the official announcement:

According to Polygon, the movie is set to be a "suburban fantasy" (much like Netflix's Bright) and it will bring us to a world where magical creatures like trolls, centaurs, and elves have replaced magic with technology. In the world of Onward, elves use phones and unicorns are raccoon-like pests.

The story is said to follow two elf brothers (likely voiced by Holland and Pratt) as they attempt to discover what's left of the magic in their world.

Director Dan Scanlon (Monsters University) shares in a press release, "At Pixar, we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth… This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother."

As I said, the setting sounds pretty much like Bright, but seeing as that movie wasn't that good, I imagine Pixar is going to do something more special with it when it comes to Onward. Pratt and Holland are great actors, and I can't wait to see how they'll play off against each other in a film—even if it's an animated one.

Catch Onward when it hits theaters March 6, 2020.
