Chris Evans Recalls Spoiling Avengers: Endgame for Anthony Mackie

It was no mystery that Marvel Studios was trying their best to avoid spoilers with Avengers: Endgame, even going so far as to give fake scripts for people in the film. What's funny though is that Chris Evans ended up spoiling the movie for his Captain America successor Anthony Mackie, and he recalls how it happened on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Here's the interview:

Apparently, Evans accidentally told Mackie that Steve Rogers would be handing Sam the shield, and Mackie had no idea. Evans ended up taking his script and showing it to Mackie, and the rest is history.

Evans had this to say about the moment, "It was so nice to share it with him. He was so happy and so deserving…It was a nice way to kind of have, just between us, the transition of characters. It was great."

Though Sam already got Steve Rogers' seal (or rather shield) of approval, the government is apparently not too keen on the passing of the torch. It's said that the upcoming miniseries The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will have something to do with the "Man" not wanting Sam Wilson for Captain America, add to that some added chaos with the return of Helmut Zemo.

I personally love that Sam is the new Cap, and I can't wait to see him in his own solo film. While a lot of people were also expecting Steve Rogers to sacrifice himself, it's great that the movie subverted expectations and had Steve actually live his life happily with Peggy.

For now, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is set for a release in the fall of 2020. Disney+ launches on Nov. 12.
