Chadwick Boseman Allegedly Finished Voice Work for Marvel's What If...?

With Black Panther becoming a new milestone for superhero films, it truly is a tragedy that we won't be able to see Chadwick Boseman play T'Challa again. Though we may never see him onscreen, it's very possible that we could hear him voice the king of Wakanda once more.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Boseman was still able to record his lines for Marvel's animated Disney+ series, What If…?. Here's the post:

Admittedly, it's not clear on whether T'Challa was able to complete his work on the show. Counting that this alternate-universe T'Challa will only feature in one episode, it's possible that Boseman didn't really need to do that much work. Then again, it's possible T'Challa could appear in other episodes as alternate versions of himself.

For those who don't know, Marvel's What If…? is an anthology series that will give us looks at alternate realities where things have gone differently from the main MCU timeline. We get episodes focused on Peggy Carter becoming a super soldier instead of Steve or Winter Soldier taking on a Captain America zombie. The scene with T'Challa is admittedly pretty interesting because we see him sporting Peter Quill's Star-Lord outfit. What do you think happened? Did Yondu abduct the wrong kid, or did Wakanda expand to space travel?

Either way, I'm not expecting What If…? to be the sendoff of the character. If T'Challa was to get that, it would have to be in the next Black Panther film. Hopefully, they have some footage of him they can use. Then again, I'm fine if they started with a funeral instead.

Black Panther 2 is set for a release on May 6, 2022.
