Celebrate the Fourth of July in This Retro Stranger Things Season 3 Ad

Everyone may be gearing up for the release of Spider-Man: Far from Home next week, but July 4 is also the premiere of Stranger Things Season 3 on Netflix. The official account has released a fun retro trailer for the Fourth of July, and it lets us meet a new character, Mayor Kline.

While we're meeting a lot of new characters this season, Mayor Kline is said to be one of more major players this time around. With the threat of the Upside-Down spreading, it would be interesting to see what the local government reaction is going to be.

I also think it's worth noting that Mayor Kline is being played by Cary Elwes, who is best known for his roles in Robin Hood: Men in Tights and The Princess Bride.

Going back to the ad though, I think it's pretty clever since it kind of promotes the show while feeling like an authentic ad from the 80s. My favorite bit is the low-key title drop with the closing line, "Don't be a stranger… Things get started at 11 AM…"

After the disappointing finale of Game of Thrones Season 8, a lot of people are looking to Stranger Things Season 3 not to let them down this time around. The show did end up skipping out last year to compensate for the upped production value of this season. Let's hope the quality of the writing is in tip-top shape as well.

Stranger Things Season 3 comes to Netflix July 4.
