Cate Blanchett and Jack Black Star in Creepy Trailer for The House with a Clock in its Walls

Horror movies for kids seem like a very niche genre, but that doesn't mean that those movies don't exist. Gore master Eli Roth has actually teamed up with Amblin Entertainment to bring to life a children's classic called The House with a Clock in Its Walls, and the film stars the likes of Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.

Here's the official description:

In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town's sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

The movie kind of feels like Harry Potter, but with Eli Roth's name attached to it, I'm expecting something a lot scarier. Plus the inclusion of Jack Black and Cate Blanchett, the movie should make for a fun ride.

Besides Jurassic Park, I can't think of any other film that has legit horror moments but is still targeted at kids. You could say that Goosebumps (2015) was going for that genre, but those scares had to be toned down for younger audiences. I hope Roth manages to terrify and delight with this project.

The House with a Clock in Its Walls is set to come out Sept. 21.
