Captain Marvel: Keanu Reeves was Supposed to be Yon-Rogg Before Jude Law was Cast

There's no stopping the leaks, and it looks like Marvel has failed to hide the fact that Jude Law is playing comic villain Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. As it turns out, they had someone very different in mind to play the role before they landed on Jude Law.

According to That Hashtag Show's Charles Murphy, the first choice to play Yon-Rogg was actually Keanu Reeves. Had it not been for his work on John Wick 3, Reeves would have been set to star, but it seemed that Law was already up for consideration as he was immediately cast afterwards.

Seeing that Reeves is now an action movie legend, seeing him in an MCU movie like Captain Marvel would have been something else. Then again, Law is still pretty great, and I'm sure his character is going to turn out amazing in the movie.

On the bright side, there is still more Marvel to come, and a lot more opportunities for Reeves to be part of the MCU moving forward. Though he doesn't necessarily have to be a hero, I'd prefer that he be cast as a villain. Hopefully if they ever decide to reboot Iron Fist, we can have a martial arts face off with Danny Rand and whoever Reeves ends up playing.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, "Captain Marvel" is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel comes out March 8.
