Brightburn: James Gunn Say He Loves Man of Steel and is Friends with Zack Snyder

Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn has produced this superhero horror movie called Brightburn, and if you've seen Man of Steel, you'll notice a lot of similarities between the two movies. Some see this as James Gunn throwing shade at director Zack Snyder, but Gunn iterates in an interview that he actually loved Man of Steel and that he's good friends with the director.

What's funny is, Gunn had actually worked with Snyder before. Back in 2004, Gunn had helped write the screenplay for Dawn of the Dead, a movie Snyder was helming at the time. Though Gunn is best known for his comedic works now with GOTG, he also has a background with horror like the Slither film and now Brightburn.

For now, it looks like the tables have turned with Snyder and Gunn what with Gunn currently working on the DCEU's The Suicide Squad. Snyder, on the other hand, seems to have left the world of DC behind, and is going back to making a zombie heist movie with Netflix. Fans wish Snyder could be back working in the DCEU, but so far, it looks like nothing is going to happen.

Then again, Gunn did get rehired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 so… fingers crossed.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

Catch Brightburn now in theaters.
