Black Widow: RDJ’s Cameo Said to be a Deleted Civil War Scene

MCU fans were excited when it was announced that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark will be in the Black Widow solo film, but his role isn't what people will be expecting. Rumor has it that RDJ's part will actually be a deleted scene from Captain America: Civil War.

This comes from Marvel Stuff on Twitter:

Comic Book also talks about a deleted scene from Civil War, and says it's the one near the end where Tony and Natasha have a conversation of how they ‘played this wrong.' The scene will have Tony telling her to run, and that results in her going into hiding along with Steve Rogers and the rest of his team.

While some may think that it's a let-down to have RDJ's role just be a recycled scene, I think it's fitting enough, counting that he already got the memorable sendoff from Avengers: Endgame. If anything, it's interesting that Tony should have one final appearance in Black Widow. Natasha made her MCU debut as a supporting character in Iron Man 2, then both characters died in Endgame; now in a film where Black Widow is the main, Iron Man is now in the supporting role.

We don't have a complete premise for Black Widow yet, but we do know that it takes place shortly after the events of Civil War. If the movie is going to have a cameo from Tony, I'm starting to get a feeling that we may also have a cameo from Steve Rogers as well, and we get to see Natasha joining his team of runaways.

Catch Black Widow in theaters May 1, 2020.
