It's been a very tough 2020 for everyone this year, and MCU fans have one more thing to be sad about. After the rumors of Black Widow being considered for a delay, it's been confirmed that the Marvel Phase 4 will be skipping out on the 2020 debut.
According to Variety, Black Widow has been postponed to May 7, 2021, almost a year from its original May 2020 release date. This looks to be the smart decision on Marvel's part, as most blockbusters are already being squashed to the end of the year with Dune and Wonder Woman 1984. It would be troublesome if Black Widow would try to compete at the box office, and Disney is still working out the kinks of their digital releases like what they did with Mulan.
With Black Widow delayed to 2021, that means MCU fans would have gone through an entire year without a big Marvel movie coming out in the box office. Then again, it's all for a good reason, as no film release is worth endangering others with the pandemic.
If it's any consolation, Phase 4 will still kick-off this year, but only on the small screen with WandaVision. I guess it's good enough for a start. The trailer looks amazing, and it's actually a story that takes place further in the timeline and not a period piece like Black Widow. Hopefully, it won't shake-up too much of the story that Marvel was originally trying to tell.
At birth, the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.
