Game of Thrones Showrunners Benioff and Weiss' Star Wars Trilogy NOT a Trilogy?

It's been a while since it was announced that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were working on a series' of Star Wars movies, and we've recently learned that they have been given three movies to develop. While everyone has been calling their movies a trilogy now, it seems that won't be the case in a traditional sense of the word.

This is a post from Star Wars Topps artist and Cinelinx's EIC Jordan Maison:

So now we're back to calling it just a series of films. We don't really know how interconnected they will be, but I'm kind of hoping that Benioff and Weiss have been set to work under the Star Wars Story banner. I'm a huge fan of Rogue One and Solo, and as it stands it seems that Lucasfilm has put a hold on their anthology movies. Hopefully once Game of Thrones 8 is out, we can get a solid update on what the two will be working on.

Seeing that they're also connected with a series like Game of Thrones¸ a lot of people are speculating that Benioff and Weiss have been hired to work on a series of Old Republic movies. The era is no doubt very popular with fans, and it would be amazing to see the world come to life onscreen for once. Then again, I'm totally open to a concept that no one has thought of at all. What about a film series about just the Starfighter pilots? More on the dark and seedy criminal underworld? I'll take anything.

No release date has been set for Benioff and Weiss' Star Wars project, but you can catch their final season of Game of Thrones on HBO this April 14.
