Black Widow will be taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before Infinity War. What’s interesting is, there’s actually an IW Easter Egg if you look closely at the trailer.

During the dining table scene with the rest of Natasha Romanoff’s “family”, you can see that the vest Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) is wearing is the same on what Nat wears in Infinity War.

We don’t know what the vest is really for, but I guess it’s some great attention to detail. When Black Widow’s blonde hair was first revealed for Infinity War years ago, a lot of people thought it was a neat nod to Yelena; now we actually get to meet Yelena in the solo film.

With Natasha having died in Avengers: Endgame, everyone is almost sure that the mantle of Black Widow will now be taken over by Yelena. We don’t know how exactly she’ll take up the role, but I imagine Fury will know all about the Black Widow program, and try to recruit her next. Then again, is Fury even handling the Avengers anymore?

Keep in mind this is all just speculation on my part. We haven’t really met Yelena the way the timeline is. What if she dies and that’s why Widow decided to dye her hair—to remember her? Seeing how Pugh is an up and coming actress, I’d think Marvel Studios would want to keep her around for a while.

Catch Black Widow when it hits theaters May 1, 2020.
