Avengers: Endgame Director Weighs in on Zack Snyder’s Justice League

While Justice League had crashed and burned in theaters, the last two Avengers films have received nothing but praise from a very thankful fanbase. Zack Snyder's original vision for JL is set to come out next year, and Endgame director Joe Russo has weighed in on what this means for directors and creative vision.

Talking to ComicBookMovie, Russo says, "I think it's always great when a director's original vision can find its way to the screen." When it comes to any original vision on his films, Russo replied:

"[Co-director Anthony Russo and I] have been very, very fortunate in our careers that everything we did for Marvel, we would call our director's cuts. They were very gracious and deferential, and very supportive of our vision for those movies, and there's nothing sitting on the editing room floor that we suddenly want back into those films. We worked very hard at what the current cut of those movies are, so we're very fortunate to have released our director's cut on all four of those films."

When it comes down to it, the Russos' MCU films have been generally well-received, so I can imagine that Marvel Studios doesn't really have any qualms when it comes to giving them creative freedom. While we do like to think that Marvel allows for all kinds of creativity for their filmmakers, there are still people who depart from projects—the last being Scott Derrickson who walked away from Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

For now, it looks like the Russos are done with the MCU, but I wouldn't put it past them to make a comeback in some way. As for Snyder, everyone is eager for the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max sometime next year.
