Anne Hathaway in Talks to Star in Full-Length Sesame Street Movie

With the Muppets finding their way back to the mainstream since 2011, it's high time that Sesame Street also gets some love on the big screen. News has it that a full-length movie is in the works, and WB is looking for Anne Hathaway to star in the film.

As per Collider, Hathaway is being courted to star as a character named Sally. We don't know much about Sally yet, but it's worth noting that the very first episode of Sesame Street had a ‘Sally' too, and her episode had her being toured around by Gordon Robinson to meet the likes of Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. It would be interesting if Hathaway were to play the very same Sally in this film.

Maybe Sally could come back to Sesame Street after a long while, and she'll be seeing how things have changed with the show ever since it started on television way back in the 70s.

Interestingly enough, Hathaway has also made an appearance in the show:

Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia) is attached to helm the film with Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) set to produce. We don't have a solid plot on Sesame Street yet, but it's expected to be a musical as well, just like the Muppet films.

Though Sesame Street the show has always been more of an educational series, I have a feeling that this movie is going to focus more on a family-friendly story that would be fun for both kids and adults. With shows like Gravity Falls and Steven Universe finding that balance, I don't think it would be too difficult with something as long-running as Sesame Street.

No release date has been set for the Sesame Street movie.
