Animatronics for Disneyland Tokyo’s Beauty and the Beast Ride will Make Your Jaw Drop

Disneyland Tokyo is working on a new ride based on the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, and though the ride may be of so-so news to some, you definitely have to check out these amazing animatronics; it's like Belle just jumped out of the cartoon and right into real life.

Just in case you're curious, here's the full video from Disney Tokyo:

I'll admit, when I first saw the footage, I thought it was something out of a Kingdom Hearts cutscene, but it's actually a real-life Belle that can move and talk.

For now, we're probably just getting a look at the early stages of development. So far we've seen animatronics for Belle and her horse, but soon we should be able to get a good look at Beast as well as the rest of the servants-turned furniture.

Though I'm sure the live-action movie made a lot of money, I'm way happier that Disneyland opted for an adaptation of the animated classic instead. The ride promises to bring us to the classic dance in the film as well as the Be Our Guest scene. I hope it's not asking too much if we get a Gaston scene as well sung and danced by a fully automated crew of robots.

I am pretty floored by the animatronics, but I can see that some also think that they're kind of creepy. I guess it's just a stepping stone to actually getting the puppets to move as we would want them. You can't rush progress.

The Beauty and the Beast ride is set to open in Disneyland Tokyo in 2020.
