Animated Dragon's Lair Movie Coming Out Next Year?

Legendary animator Don Bluth was behind one of the 80s biggest arcade games, Dragon's Lair, and news has it that an animated movie is in the works. What's interesting is, a new rumor has come out that the movie will indeed be releasing next year.

This comes from @Animated_Antic on Twitter:

We don't have any official news on the Dragon's Lair movie, but the same source said that there was a listing revealing that Dragon's Lair was currently in the works. We should, of course, take this news with a grain of salt, but if the movie is set to come out next year, hopefully, a teaser will be released before 2019 ends.

As it stands, it seems that 3D animation has left 2D dead in the water, and the last big 2D animated film to hit theaters was The Princess and the Frog back in 2009. We don't know how big this Dragon's Lair movie is going to be, but the brand definitely has the nostalgia prestige, and I'm sure a lot of people would be interested once we get a look at the film.

If anything, I think they can always strike a deal with Netflix or any other streaming service. I mean, Invader Zim and Rocko's Modern Life have found their return online; I'm sure the risk is minimized if Dragon's Lair opted for a streaming release instead.

For now, we still have no release date set for Dragon's Lair, but if all things go well, we could get it sometime next year.
