Aladdin: New Still of Blue Genie Doesn't Look So Bad

A new trailer for Aladdin has come out, and it gives us a good look at Will Smith's Genie in full blue form. What's weird is, a lot of people aren't happy with the look despite demands that the character should be blue when the first images came out. A new still has been released, and it actually has Genie look a lot better than what we saw in the trailer.

Check him out:

I don't know why, but I think the reason this works so well is that the image is a still. When you look at the trailer, it's like they CGI-d Smith's face onto a large person's body.

If anything, I don't think anyone has a right to complain about the way the character looks. When the first images of Will Smith came out earlier this year, a lot of people were complaining that he wasn't accurate to the cartoon. Now we have an image of him in full blue form, and no one seems to like it either.

Personally, I was fine with the movie sticking to the human look of the Genie. That's how they did it in Broadway, and I would have been fine if they did the same for the films. If anything, I like how other-worldly the Genie looks in the images. I guess I just want to see more of it before I really make up my mind.

Catch Aladdin in theaters May 24.
