John Krasinski had made a sleeper hit with A Quiet Place, and Paramount has greenlit a sequel. Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) was originally cast as the lead of the movie, but news has it that he's been replaced by Marvel's Djimon Hounsou.
According to Deadline, Henry had to exit the film due to scheduling conflicts. We don't really know what project caused him to leave, but it had just been recently announced that Atlanta had been renewed for two more seasons that will supposedly shoot back to back. Then again, it could be something completely different.
Meanwhile, for Hounsou, he'll be joining Cillian Murphy as a new face for the cast; returning actors from the first film are Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe.
We don't have a plot for A Quiet Place Part II yet, but seeing that the Abbott family is back, it's likely that we'll see how they manage to navigate the world after they found a way to counterattack the aliens. Then again, with Hounsou said to be taking on a "big" role, I'm expecting the Abbott's to take a backseat this time, and we get to watch the story from someone else's perspective.
Until we get something officially announced, all we can really do is wait. Personally, I thought that the first film was already fine on its own, but if Krasinski thinks that there's a story in the sequel worth telling, then I guess we shouldn't take it against him.
The sequel to A Quiet Place is set to come out March 20, 2020.
