It looks like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going for a big media push this week. We got a new spot and images yesterday, and now we have a total of 13 new character posters for the main players of TROS.
Check them out:
Admittedly most of the characters getting posters are the Resistance heroes with Kylo Ren being the only First Order member to get the spotlight. If anything, I would have loved a poster for Richard E. Grant’s General Pryde or Domnhall Gleeson’s Hux. You’d even think that the Knights of Ren or the generic stormtroopers have their own poster.
Just like with Avengers: Endgame though, I think Lucasfilm is sitting on a lot of spoiler-y promo material. We’ve only gotten limited looks at the upcoming Sith Trooper, and we don’t even have a look at the returning Emperor Palpatine yet. How about a poster for Leia or Ghost Luke Skywalker? My guess is that they’re going to be released weeks after the film comes out, so not everyone will be spoiled.
Admittedly Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a hard film to market. I’m sure PR wants to show a lot of great things in the film, but there’s always the risk of showing too much. I mean, if they can hide Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian, I can only imagine what’s coming for TROS.
Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when it hits theaters Dec. 20.
